About us

When we opened Ajoblanco in 2014 we simply tried to open the kind of restaurant that we would like to live near to. We included our favourite tapas dishes perfect for sharing plus what we do best – amazing Spanish meat and the freshest fish all accompanied by spectacular cocktails and an extensive Spanish wine list. To this we also added a beautiful, inviting space with great music and have put together an attentive team all dedicated to making our customers happy.

Ajoblanco owes it’s fusion of 70’s and contemporary design to Lázaro Rosa-Violán, one of Barcelona’s most emblematic interior architects, known for his deeply comfortable, richly atmospheric spaces.


We pride ourselves on sourcing the best products from the Iberian Peninsula. This includes locally grown fruit, vegetables and grains, daily deliveries from Catalonia’s most famous fish markets and the most succulent meat from Northern Spain.

Ajoblanco forms a part of the Lombardo Group, a family restaurant business created with love and enthusiasm by Kate Preston and José Lombardero. Both opened their first restaurant together in 2003: Taller de Tapas on the Plaça Sant Josep Oriol in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter. The crisp design coupled with their open kitchen was an instant success and they have gone on to open 9 more restaurants in Barcelona including Casa Delfín in the Born and Ultramarinos on the Ramblas.
